Helen Ann Vandervort Callison

Lewisburg-Helen Ann Vandervort Callison, 82, passed away Friday, Feb. 1, 2019, at Lewis-Gale Allegheny Regional.

She was born Aug. 18, 1936, in Renick to the late Dr. Madison King and Willie Ann Boggs Vandervort.

She was the youngest of seven children, Marvin, Austin, June, Donald, Nina, and Katherine. She is survived by two siblings, Nina V. Blumberg of Inglewood, CA, and Katherine V. Hall of Prince Frederick, MD.

Helen graduated from Renick High School in 1954. She was married in Roanoke, VA, on Mar. 4, 1955, to the late Bobby Callison of Lewisburg. They had four children. Helen was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, and canning. She had a great love for all animals, especially her dogs (Mack and Papi) and her horses.

Survivors include, children, Sara Kirk (Clinton) of Alderson, Susan Ann Glover (Gregory) of Lewisburg, Dr. Sandy Callison (Derrick Coleman) Lewisburg, and Sam Callison (Cheryle) of Lewisburg; six grandchildren, Dr. Angie Clark (Jeff), Kelley Adkins (Charles), Sam Callison, Nathan Callison, Courtney Glover, and Colson Glover; great-grandchildren, Kaylee Clark and one on the way, John Dwayne Adkins; and special niece and nephew, Jerry Hoover (Paula), and Vicki Hoover Whitt (Danny).

A graveside service was held on Wednesday, Feb. 6, at Morningside Cemetery in Renick.

Visitation was Tuesday evening, Feb. 5, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg.
