The PGA of America Tri-State Chapter announced last Thursday that Hill Herrick, Director of Golf at The Greenbrier, has been inducted into the Tri-State PGA Hall of Fame Class of 2025.
A PGA Member since 1987, Herrick has more than four decades of experience in the golf industry. He began at The Greenbrier in 1984 as an Assistant Professional and became a Head Golf Professional in 1991. In 2023, Herrick was named Director of Golf. He’s also a PGA Certified Professional in Golf Operations, a distinction he earned in 2013.
A native of Saginaw, MI, and a Michigan State University alumnus, Herrick lettered four years on the golf team at MSU, while earning his degree in Marketing. He has achieved multiple top 10 finishes in the West Virginia Open, West Virginia PGA, West Virginia Senior PGA and Tri-State Section PGA Championships.
Herrick also received numerous accolades, including:
- PGA National Merchandiser of the Year (2011)
- Tri-State PGA Professional of the Year (2006)
- Tri-State PGA Merchandiser of the Year (2007 & 2011)
- Tri-State PGA Bill Strausbaugh Award (2016 & 2021)
- West Virginia Golf Professional of the Year (2004, 2005, 2011)
- Golf Digest No. 1 Golf Instructor in West Virginia (2003)
“Hill’s lifelong dedication to excellence, mentorship and service embodies everything the PGA stands for,” said The Tri-State PGA in a release. “We are honored to celebrate his remarkable career and contributions to the game.”
Away from the golf course, Herrick is a cancer survivor and an accomplished French Horn player, who has performed in various groups since 1982. He and his wife, Carol, a former chef at The Greenbrier, have been married for 34 years.
“I never in my wildest dreams would have imagined this honor,” said Herrick in the release. “I am very grateful to the committee, my fellow professionals and the wonderful Tri-State PGA Staff.”
The Tri-State PGA Hall of Fame honors the individuals, professionals or amateurs, as champions at a National, Statewide or Regional level of competition or who have made significant contributions to the game of golf in the Tri-State Section PGA. For a PGA Member to be eligible for the Tri-State Section PGA Hall of Fame, that member must be 50 years old and have 20 years of service as a PGA Professional.
Herrick joins notable names like Arnold Palmer, The Greenbrier’s own Sam Snead, Ed Stack and many more in this exclusive Hall of Fame.
