In celebration of Easter, The Greenbrier has unveiled two holiday-themed chocolate displays made up of nearly 1,000 pounds of dark, milk and white chocolate. Construction of the displays was led by the resort’s Executive Pastry Chef Jean-Francois Suteau and his team, who started the process in the first week of January.

The Greenbrier’s upper lobby features a 150-pound display of chocolate golden eggs, while the lower lobby houses various chocolate statues and figurines, which all together weigh in at a total of 700 pounds – including a six-foot-tall chocolate rabbit, 400 small chocolate eggs and 280 chocolate chicks. Each display will remain up for viewing for three weeks and guests and visitors will have the chance to purchase mini versions of the pieces on display, in addition to the larger pieces themselves.

Chef Suteau is an expert in his field, having been named the U.S. Chocolate Master at the World Chocolate Masters competition in 2013,as well as one of the “Top 10 Pastry Chefs in the United States” by Dessert Professional Magazine in 2011. As Executive Pastry Chef at The Greenbrier, he oversees all desserts for the resort’s 14 restaurants, cafes and lounges, in addition to 24-hour in-room dining.

From Friday, Apr. 3 through Sunday, Apr. 5, Easter Weekend at The Greenbrier will include dance parties, puppet shows, jelly bean contests, a Bunny Hop Fun Run, photo ops with the Easter Bunny, and a larger-than-life Easter egg hunt for kids, while adults can relax and enjoy special wine tastings, art exhibits, fashion trunk shows, cooking demonstrations, and a special adult Easter egg hunt. The weekend will conclude with Easter Brunch in the resort’s Colonial Hall, featuring a bountiful buffet and live musical accompaniment.
