Supported ride celebrates the beauty of WV while giving back to communities along the Trail

Friends of Trek Inc. has opened registration for the 2026 Greenbrier River Trail Bike Trek, which will run October 1 through 4 this fall. The annual cycling event will once again bring riders together to experience one of the nation’s most scenic rail trails while supporting the communities that make the Greenbrier River Trail so special.

The fully supported trek follows the historic Greenbrier River Trail with two days of cycling on Friday and Saturday from Cass to Anthony, West Virginia. The ride offers cyclists about 66 miles of breathtaking mountain scenery, river views, charming small towns, and unforgettable camaraderie. Participants can add on an additional, unsupported 22 miles in an out-an-back leg from Anthony to Caldwell on either Thursday or Sunday for a total of 88 miles for the weekend. Because of this year’s bridge construction project, the exact route may be subject to change.

The Greenbrier River Trail Bike Trek is an independent event organized by Friends of Trek Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that is committed to its mission of promoting outdoor recreation, building community, and supporting the people and places that make the trail a West Virginia treasure.

Participants will enjoy

• Fully supported SAG and rest breaks

• Overnight accommodations throughout the Trek

• Meals and refreshments during the event

• Transportation and logistical support

• A welcoming atmosphere for cyclists of a range of experience levels

• Opportunities to explore and support local communities along the trail

“The Greenbrier River Trail Bike Trek is more than just a bike ride. It’s an opportunity to slow down, connect with others, and experience the incredible beauty and hospitality of West Virginia,” said Rob Cotter, president of Friends of Trek Inc. “We’re excited to continue this tradition as an independent nonprofit and create another memorable experience for riders while giving back to the communities that have embraced this event for so many years.”

Registration is now open, and cyclists are encouraged to reserve their spots early.
