“The feeling of this win is indescribable. Last year we fell short and after that loss we have worked so hard to get us to where we are now, heading to states. This team is very special. I have put all my trust and believed in them every step of the way. During the game every 1-2 minutes at the end of each half and overtimes I felt like we were going to score, I would say to myself, this is it, I feel it, we are going to put one in and with 38 seconds left in the second overtime before going into penalty kicks we capitalized on a loose ball and put it in the back of the net!
“We did it! We have made history; we are the first soccer team to ever go to states. From a coaching standpoint, I’m ecstatic, I’ve believed in my girls all the way! My assistant coach and I can tell them and show them everything they need to know but it’s up to them to follow through with it. As for it being my first year as head coach I’m beyond blessed and we give all the glory to God. I believed and constant belief and encouragement can go a long ways. I’m blessed to have such an amazing group of not only athletes but young ladies! I wouldn’t trade this moment, this feeling, for anything. Something that will definitely hold a place in my heart for the rest of my life! This is our time, and our time is now!” said Courtney Cole, GEHS Women’s Soccer Head Coach.
