Carnegie Hall is pleased to announce its Fall 2026 Introduction to the Art of Fencing course, a dynamic beginner-level series led by instructor Dr. Russell Amundson. Classes will be held on Tuesdays, Sept. 29; Oct. 6, 13, 20, and 22, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., offering participants a focused and engaging five-week experience on the strip.
Designed for learners ages 16 and older and older, this course welcomes adults and teens of all abilities. Students will explore the fundamentals of fencing footwork, bladework, and strategy through progressive weekly exercises that build confidence, coordination, and an understanding of the sport’s rich traditions. Participants will gain insight into the ancient art of fencing while experiencing the camaraderie and team spirit that define CFC, the Carnegie Fencing Club — where Challenges are Faced Courageously.
Class equipment is provided, with the exception of required personal protective gear. Limited sizes are available, and participants are encouraged to contact Carnegie Hall with any questions regarding specific equipment needs or availability.
Tuition for the series is $225 for Carnegie Hall members and $250 for nonmembers. Scholarships are available, and adults aged 50 and over may enroll for just $95. As part of Carnegie Hall’s ongoing Classes & Workshops program, this course reflects the organization’s commitment to lifelong learning through small-group, high-quality instruction each spring and fall.
