Greenbrier Valley Theatre (GVT) is proud to announce the schedule for the 2018 fall semester After-School classes: GVTots I (Grade K-1) and II (Grade 2-3), GVTweens (Grade 4-5), GVTeens I (Grade 6-8) and II (Grade 9-12) and the year-long Conservatory (Grade 8-12, by audition).

Students who participate in GVT’s Education Program experience the joy of learning acting styles, collaboration and improvisation. They are able to strengthen their individuality, while participating in group activities, whether through intensive year-long study or one semester at a time. One GVTeen excited to get back to the theatre and continue with the fun is Bogi Szalai.

“I love being at GVT! The After-School Program gives me a chance to be myself. My favorite part of the class is improvisation,” said the long-time student. “The classes help me to communicate better with kids at school. It also boosted my self-confidence. I can’t wait for the Fall classes to start.”

Parents can also appreciate the success of the Education Program, mainly because they can see the results of the after-school classes both on and off-stage. Bogi’s mother, Monika, has noticed a boost in her self-confidence and communication with each passing semester.

“The educational program’s staff is extraordinary. They embrace each child’s uniqueness and nurture their talent,” said the proud GVTeen parent.

Registration for after-school classes is open now through Sept. 7. You can register for classes by contacting GVT’s new Education Manager Anna Lisa Fischel via email at annalisa@gvtheatre.org or by calling the Education Office at 304-645-3838 ext. 111. GVTots I and II, GVTweens and GVTeens I and II are for one semester at a time, taking place in the fall and the spring.

For teens who are dedicated to studying the techniques of acting in a more intensive format, we offer a year-long conservatory program. Conservatory program admission is based on a competitive audition process.

After-school classes begin Sept. 10 and run through Dec. 12 on the following schedule:

  • Monday: Tweens 4-5 p.m.; Conservatory 5:15-7:15 p.m.
  • Tuesday: Tots I (Grade K-1) 4-5 p.m.; Tots II (Grade 2-3) 5:15-6:15 p.m.
  • Wednesday: Teens I (Grade 6-8) 4-5 p.m.; Teens II (Grade 9-12) 5:15-6:15 p.m.

Tuition for the classes is $90 ($125 for Conservatory) per semester or $170 ($240 for Conservatory) for both fall and spring semesters, if registering for the entire year. Tuition for each additional child in the same family is $75 per semester. Need-based scholarships are available.

For scholarship applications, to register, to schedule an audition, or for any other information regarding the education programs, visit our website at www.gvtheatre.org, contact annalisa@gvtheatre.org or call the Education Office at 304-645-3838 ext. 111.
