Lewisburg-Edward Burdle “June Bug” Hoke Jr., 78, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2023, at Lewis Gale Hospital, Salem, VA.

Born Sept. 9, 1945, in Glace, WV, he was the son of the late Edward Burdle Hoke, Sr. and Etta Spence Hoke.

He worked at the sawmill in Ronceverte for 38 years and retired from Mullican Flooring. Edward loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing in his retirement.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Posie Hoke, Jerry Hoke, Shirley Boggs, Mildred Alderson, Hilda Martin, and Bernice Fury.

Survivors include his loving wife of over 54 years, Theda M. Hoke; son, Edward “Daniel” Hoke (Tina); daughter, Debra “Debbie” Hoke; brothers, Carlos Hoke and Marshall Hoke; sisters, Arlene Bunch, Louise Feury and Sharon Emily Hoke; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was held on Monday, Dec. 4, at the Morgan Funeral Home Chapel, Lewisburg, where Pastor Ralph Hubbard officiated. Visitation was held Sunday evening, Dec. 3, at the funeral home.
