White Sulphur Springs-Edgar Cleveland Waid, 80, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at his residence.
Born June 4, 1934, in Alvon, he was a son of the late Edward and Sona Belle Vance Waid.
Mr. Waid was a retired employee of The Greenbrier and was a US Army Veteran. He was a faithful member of the Greenbrier Valley Baptist Church. Mr. Waid loved art and had painted many pictures. He loved to walk.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Elizabeth Rider on Apr. 27, 2014.
Survivors include: brother, Oliver Waid of Ohio; sisters, Mable Lapastora of Newport News, VA and Mrs. Ruth Braden of White Sulphur Springs; also many nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, Aug. 3, at the Greenbrier Valley Baptist Church, Rt. 92, White Sulphur Springs where Rev. Gordon Ross officiated.
Burial was in Alvon Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Alvon.
Visitation was one hour prior to the funeral services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Greenbrier Valley Baptist Church.
Fellow members of the Greenbrier Valley Baptist Church served as pallbearers.
