Denny was a graduate of Alderson High School, class of 1958. He attended Auto Body Trade School in Nashville, TN, following graduation. He married and lived in the Washington, DC, area before settling back in Alderson where he and his first wife had three children and he operated Valley Body Shop. He moved his family to Winter Park, Florida in 1979 and established Denny’s Auto Body in 1985. He and Shelva Sampson married in August 1988.

He retired in 2008 and moved to Beverly Hills, FL, in 2017 where he continued to do backyard gardening as a hobby. He was a member of First Christian Church of Inverness and was an active 32nd degree Masonic Mason of the Orlando Chapter. He will be remembered for his outgoing personality and always going out of his way to help his family, friends, and neighbors.

Denny was preceded in death by his parents, Russ and Glee.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Shelva Quillen; by his children, Connie Baxter (Russ), Reka Schaub (Ray), Janene Kirkland (Jerry), Julie Monnin (Jarrod), Michael Quillen (Lisa); by his grandchildren, Mark Schaub, Carolanne Bowley (Kyle), Steven Schaub (Lorna), Shannon Schaub, Emily Baxter, Sarah Pierce (Matt), Madison Kirkland, Rachel Kirkland; by his great-grandchildren, Holden Bowley, Cameron Bowley; and by his brothers, Darrell Quillen (Sue), Ronald “Buck” Quillen (Linda).

A memorial service will be held at First Christian Church Inverness on Jan. 5, at 2 p.m., located at 2018 Colonade Street, Inverness, FL 34453. The service will be shown live on Facebook, from the First Christian Church Inverness page.

In lieu of flowers donations to First Christian Church can be made in his memory, link for donations or church address can be found at www.fccinv.com
