Chesterfield, VA-Daniel Keith “Danny’’ Parker, 61, formerly of Alderson, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2106, at Clark Regional Medical Centr in Winchester, KY, following a sudden illness.

Born Mar. 13, 1955, in Charleston, WV, he was the son of Julia Anne Kennedy Parker of Alderson and the late Richard Emil Parker, Sr.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Deborah Anne Parker; and a niece, Bethany Suzanne Parker.

Mr. Parker was a 1974 graduate of Greenbrier East High School in Fairlea. He retired from the United States Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Prisons in 2006 and currently was the owner and operator of his own contracting business, Parker Home Improvement Company, in the Richmond, VA area. He was an avid WVU football fan and loved the Pittsburgh Steelers. Mr. Parker adored his wife, doted on his grandchildren, was especially close to his brothers and loved all of his family, as well as his many, many friends. He had a constant smile on his face, gave great big bear hugs, and was a kind and generous man who was always ready to help anyone in need. He will forever rest in his beloved West Virginia and will be greatly missed by us all.

Survivors include the love of his life, who he married in 2004, Stephanie Steininger Parker of Chesterfield, VA; daughter, Andrea Parker of Alderson; son, Nicholas Parker and wife Hope of Lancaster, KY; his mother, Julia Anne Kennedy Parker of Alderson; three brothers, Rick Parker and wife Cindy of Alderson, Paul Parker of Alderson and Chester Parker and fiancee Valerie Parker of Alderson; five grandchildren, Matthew, Rocco, Paige, Samuel and Christian; aunt, Elizabeth Canterbury of Charleston; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Pat Steininger of Hopewell, VA; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Oct. 5, at the Old Greenbrier Baptist Church, Alderson, where the Rev. Dr. Bill Bryan officiated. Burial followed in the Alderson Cemetery, Alderson.

Friends called Wednesday, Oct. 5, at the church before the service.

A memorial service was held on Friday evening, Oct. 7, at the J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home in Chester, VA.

Serving as pallbearers were Kevin Kiddy, Joe Tudor, Matthew Hedrick, Mark Dunbar, Gregory Steininger, Paul Parker and Chester Parker.

In lieu of flowers, donations of sympathy may be made in Mr. Parker’s memory to the Old Greenbrier Baptist Church, P.O. Box 456, Alderson, WV 24910.

Arrangements by Lobban Funeral Home, Alderson.
