Creative Youth Art Exhibit winners announced

Best In Show Award “Contemporary Nobility”

Carnegie Hall’s 32nd annual Creative Youth Juried Art Exhibit awards ceremony took place on Mar. 3, as friends and family filled the Hamilton Auditorium to celebrate the accomplishments of Greenbrier Valley’s young artists. A reception with light refreshments followed the ceremony.

Creative Youth is a juried art show each spring that features the talent and imagination of Greenbrier County students in grade 4-12. Children from public, private, and home schools submit their work for this juried art exhibit.

This year’s participating schools and teachers: Alderson Elementary and Ronceverte Elementary – Carmen Ball; Crichton Elementary and Rainelle Elementary – David Wayne Poticher; Eastern Greenbrier Middle School – Rachelle Henderson and Mary Katherine Stankunas; Frankford Elementary and White Sulphur Springs Elementary- Stephanie Holley; Greenbrier Community School – Jacque Minarek and Jennifer Orr; Greenbrier East High School–Mark Cline and Stephanie Tilley; Greenbrier West High School – Marla Bell; Lewisburg Elementary – April Vincent; Rupert Elementary and Smoot Elementary – Kassidy Medlin; Western Greenbrier Middle School – Emily Sullivan; and Home School Group – Faith Community Co-Op.

During the awards ceremony, Carnegie Hall’s Education Director, Harmony Flora; President/CEO, Cathy Rennard; Box Office Manager, Adam Rossi; and Carnegie Hall Board of Directors President Jill McIntyre; announced the winners of the various art categories and divisions. Local artists Sean O’Connell, Margaret Baker, and Lynn Quillen served as judges. Education Associate Stella Neeley handed out the awards.

The Best In Show Award went to Abby Fedukovich, a Greenbrier West High School 12th- grade student, with her painting “Contemporary Nobility.” The Carnegie Hall’s Choice Award was given to Greenbrier East High School 9th-grade student, Phoebe Hall, for her painting “Stressed Out.”

The Elementary School Division (Grade 4-5) ribbon winners are: Drawing – Owen Vestal (winner), Violet Meadows (runner up), Skylar Auber (third place), and Grant Higginbotham (honorable mention); Mixed Media – Ethan Weidman (winner), Jemma Rohlfe (runner up), Addalynne Manspile (third place), Samuel McClung (honorable mention) and Adley Martin (honorable mention); Painting – Kennedy Willis (winner), Charlie Jo Caruthers (runner up), Scarlett Arthur (third place), Clay Deem (honorable mention), and Olivia Glover (honorable mention).

The Middle School Division (Grade 6-8) ribbon winners are: Drawing – Aiden Groves (winner), Jocelyn Foley (runner up), Skylar Brewster (third place), Thea White (honorable mention), and Dashiell Ward (honorable mention); Mixed Media – Dylon Eary-Boone (winner), Avery Hodges-McGuffin (runner up), Ryeleigh Shirley (third place), Zoey Kelley (honorable mention), Brandon Sparks (honorable mention), and Adelyn Wallington (honorable mention); Painting – Natalie Currence (winner), Mather Wilson (runner up), Amberlea Steidley (third place), and Ava Masters (honorable mention).

The High School Division (Grade 9-12) ribbon winners are: Drawing – Dulce Murillo (winner), Mariam Fitts (runner up), Evelyn Clay (third place), Asa Marks ((honorable mention), and Cloe Adkins (honorable mention); Mixed Media – Luna Huffman (winner), Madison Burdette (runner up), Anna Raine Preston (third place), Blakelyn Adwell (honorable mention), and Emma Thompson (honorable mention); Painting – Abby Fedukovich (winner), Gracie Thymius (runner up), Katlyn Vaughan (third place), Ruby DeHaven (honorable mention and Emma Edens (honorable mention).

The Creative Youth Art Exhibit will be on display in the Old Stone Room through the end of March.
