Clara Lou Ray

White Sulphur Springs-Clara Lou Ray, 70,passed away Monday, Mar. 2, 2015, at Bluefield Regional Hospital in Bluefield, WV.

Born Sept. 5, 1944, at Smoot, she was a daughter of the late Lewis Alonzo and Macel Bennett Carter.

Mrs. Ray attended the Kingdom hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Lewisburg. She was a homemaker who loved cooking and being with her family. She loved gardening, working with flowers and in her yard. Mrs. Ray looked forward to her home bible studies with Dana and other friends on Fridays.

Preceding her in death other than her parents was a daughter; Becky Ray Boles, and three sisters; Madge McGraw, Pat Redding, and Betty Thompson.

Survivors include: her husband of 48 years, Gary Lee Ray at home; daughter; Teresa Ray of Quinwood; son, Myron Pack of Clintonville; three brothers, Harry Carter of Rainelle, Billie Thompson of Smoot and Pete Thompson of Chicago, IL; and sister, Frances (Deannie) Gheen of Lewisburg. She is also survived by a granddaughter, Sheila Pack of Missouri, and a grandson, Sebastian (Bass) Pack of Texas.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Mar. 7, in the chapel of Shanklin Funeral Home, White Sulphur Springs with Elder Andrew Cecil and Pastor Ed Valandingham officiating. Burial will follow in the Wallace Memorial Cemetery at Clintonville.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be sent to the funeral home at P.O. Box 238, White Sulphur Springs, WV 24986 to help with funeral expenses.
