The Richlands Ruritans met at 7 p.m. on June 9 at the Calvary Methodist Church in Richlands. In addition to a business meeting, the Ruritans heard a presentation from Aaron Jensen and Logan Kelly missionaries for the Church of Latter-Day Saints.
Mr. Kelly and Mr. Jensen are missionaries assigned to the Lewisburg area. All young members of the Mormon Church have to serve a two-year term as missionaries. Some of these young people are assigned to locations in America and some are assigned to overseas missions.
The presentation was about the history and hierarchy of the Mormon Church and its evangelistic mission to spread the gospel. Their mission work is both Christian focused and family focused.
In the business portion of the meeting, the club made preparations for their upcoming raffle to raise funds for community service projects. Final plans were made for the annual family picnic on June 24 at the Calvary Methodist Church. The club voted to make a donation of $100 to the Greenbrier Youth Camp to provide scholarships for youngsters.
