It has become part of the holiday tradition for many to enjoy afternoon tea in Alderson. In recent years, the tea has been held at the Old Victorian Inn where host Doris Kasley and volunteer helpers from Alderson Main Street have made everyone feel so welcome. The tea will be held at the “Old Vic” again this year on Sunday, Dec. 10 with seatings at 1 and 3 p.m.

Beautifully decorated for the season, the Old Victorian Inn, built in 1906 for a lumber baron, showcases all the beautiful wood that was available at that time. Also, a tradition, Leah and Roger Trent will add their beautiful seasonal music to the occasion.

There are two seatings at 1 and 3 p.m. and tickets are limited. Guests may purchase tickets for $20 each at the Alderson Artisan’s Gallery (304-445-7952) by cash, check, or credit card. Proceeds support Alderson Main Street projects, particularly the “Gem of the Hills” Holiday celebration.

Alderson Main Street Treasurer Margaret Hambrick said, “This is a very special tradition in Alderson. Groups of friends plan on attending each year and generations of women and girls feel very special in their Sunday best as they sip their tea and eat the scones and tiny sandwiches.”
