Our football team will hold a Green & White Scrimmage Saturday instead of traveling to Mitchell Stadium for the Graham Grid-O-Rama. The team will travel to Westside High School next Friday the 23rd at 6 p.m. to face Wyoming East in a final tune-up before the home opener against James Monroe Aug. 30. Finally, there will be a Football FanFest Saturday at the Stadium from 10 a.m. to noon.  The boys soccer team under new coach Pat Murat will debut against the South Charleston Black Eagles at 2 p.m. at the Stadium so come out and support your Spartans!
GYFL Grid is Sunday at the Stadium – come out and checkout your future Spartans.
Volleyball, Golf, Girls Soccer, and Cross Country are going to be very exciting – our volleyball team is as dedicated a bunch of athletes I have seen at East.
Season tickets, Gold Seats, Banners, Program  Ads – just call Darla at the high school or stop in at office. She has organized another very successful flea market during state fair for Spartan Athletic Foundation – beautiful new ice machine in our training room with help from the SAF, our booster organization. As always, please support every endeavor we have at East through individual sports or the SAF. Every penny goes to our athletes.
Former UVA standout and Bath County Charger John Phillips is a Charger again – this time it’s for the NFL San Diego team. After three years as a Dallas Cowboy, John signed with the Chargers in the off season. He also got married so he really had a memorable summer. He and his brother Jake are two of the finest athletes and young men I ever met and that my twin brother Terry had the privilege to coach.
Our school levy is in October. If you ever had any teacher make a difference in your life, vote yes.
Fall Sports Schedules are on our Facebook Page GEHS Spartans.
Our custodians are awesome – thanks, Joy Rudd, Dirk Anderson, Geneva Dillard, Nathan Callison, Pat Vance, John Woodrum, Steve Wilson, Rick Estep and last, but certainly not least, Doug Scott.
Enjoy the last day of the fair. I have finally come to the conclusion after 25 years of taste testing, that the ribeye steak sandwich and Ben-Ellen donuts are my favorites. Take care and have a great week.
