Arvilla Lorrine Wall, 83, of Danese passed away Thursday, Jan. 16, 2025, at CAMC Memorial Hospital, following a short illness.  Born Apr. 1, 1941, on Greenwood Mountain in Lawton, WV, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Lena (Berry) Claypool.

Arvilla was an expert gardener, especially growing her prized dahlias. She really loved her Greenwood Mountain Homecomings, and the opportunity to relive the experience of growing up there. One of the joys Arvilla had was traveling, she was always ready for new sights. The times she treasured were those spent with her family.

In addition to her parents, she is proceeded in death by two sisters, Dorthy Smith and Mable Callison.

Survivors include her husband of 42 years, George Wall; three children Kathy Killen (David) of Lockbridge, Janet Gill of Meadow Bridge, and Mark Fleshman (Shelby) of Danese; four sisters Carmella Killen of Craigsville, Milred Jones of Wilkes-Barre, PA, Sandra Goins (Dwayne) of Chesterfield, VA, and Debra Thomas (Rick) of Leivasy; eight grandchildren, Jeremy Gill (Jessie), Tonya Killen, Tara Killen, Abby Harless (Hunter), Sarah Ward (Frankie), Kyle Killen (Kaitlyn), Tommy McCallister (Brandie), Spencer Preston; 17 great-grandchildren Mason, Bailey, Jacob, and Eva Gill, Haven and Kylee Meador, Finley and Phoenix Harless, McKenna and Annslea Ward, Kennedy, Karter, Klayton and Karolina Killen, Logan and Alaina McCallister, and Colten Burns; a grand-dog Lexi-Poo and her sidekick cat, Buddy; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the ICU Heart Recovery doctors and nurses at CAMC Memorial Hospital. They would also like to thank Stephany for providing companionship during the long hours spent in the hospital waiting room, as well as Stewart Redden for all the support offered during this challenging time.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, at Smathers Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Rick Thomas officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.  Burial to follow in Layland Cemetery.

Smathers Funeral Chapel is honored to serve the family at their time of need.
