Alice Mae Chieffo

White Sulphur Springs-Alice Mae Chieffo, 75, was called home to be with the Lord Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015, following a long term illness.

Alice was born Dec. 29, 1939, to Marshall and Edith Gabbert.

She lived most of her life in White Sulphur Springs and worked at The Greenbrier Hotel as a telephone operator for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and spending time with her family. In her later years she was not physically able to attend church, however, she was a practicing Christian and did have God in her life.

She was preceded in death by her late husband, Fiore Anthony Tony Chieffo.

Alice was the eldest of eight children, five brothers and two sisters; all survived by her.

She is survived by her four children, Angela Simms and husband Ralph Simms, Tony Chieffo, Kathy Hoover and Tina Landis; six grandchildren; and five great- grandchildren.

“Remember me with smiles and laughter for that is how I will remember you all. If you can only remember me with tears don’t remember me at all.”

No service will be held as per Alice’s wishes.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks you make a donation to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation.

Shanklin Funeral Home, White Sulphur Springs, is serving the family.
