Frankie Helen Walkup was born on Butler Mountain, Renick, Greenbrier County, WV, on Apr. 15, 1931, the only child of Christina Elizabeth Paulin Poe and Ellis Marshall Poe.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Christopher Rusk Walkup (Renick/WSS).

She is survived by her daughter, Victoria (Vikki) Rusk Walkup-Pierce and son-in-law, Eric Pierce (Orlando, FL) and grandson, Christopher Rusk Pierce (Alexandria, VA); step-daughter, Sadie Ann Walkup Prichard (Richmond, VA) and husband Allan Prichard and their two sons, Christopher Allan and Franklin Scott.

Frankie graduated from Lewisburg High School in 1949. She was an avid reader and loved playing basketball. She was short but fast! She was an active member of St. Catherine’s of Sienna Catholic Church in Ronceverte. After graduating high school, she attended Greenbrier College for Women, St. Mary’s School of Nursing, and West Virginia Business College in Clarksburg. Upon returning home, she worked for Bluegrass Dairy as a bookkeeper before starting at the First National Bank of Ronceverte. She left the workforce to become a full time mother.

She was very active in the White Sulphur Springs Garden Club for many years. She served in all offices and coordinated many Tastes of the Town. She graciously served along side her husband when he was President of the West Virginia Bankers Association in 197?. She immensely enjoyed being a member of the Greenbrier Golf and Tennis Club.

She left WSS after the passing of her husband to live in assisted living in Orlando, FL, to be closer to her daughter. Although she lived the last of her years in Florida, not a day or minute went by that she didn’t miss her West Virginia home. On Sunday, Oct. 30, 2022, Frankie passed away peacefully with her daughter at her side. Frankie’s wish is now fulfilled as she returns to WV to be buried along side her mother and father.

Viewing is Monday, Nov. 7th from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg. Internment in Rosewood Cemetery will immediately follow the viewing. Family and friends are welcomed.

Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg is in charge of arrangements.
