Lewisburg-Robert “Sonny” Massie, 76, passed away Monday, Apr. 22, 2019, from injuries sustained from a fall.
He was born June 9, 1942, in Ronceverte and was the son of the late Robert and Geraldine Henson Massie.
He was a lifelong resident of Greenbrier County. He owned and operated Greenbrier Builders along with Rusty Hedrick for 47 years. The duo built many homes throughout the county. He was the best handyman around. He always had a smile and a joke to follow.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by son, Tracy Massie; brothers, John Lewis and Doug Massie; and sister, Dreama Yates.
Survivors include the love of his life, Joan Carter Massie; son, Jeremy Massie and wife Heather Loudermilk Massie; his pride and joy grandchildren, Tyler, Morgan and Logan Massie; sister, Dena Dolan and husband Ronnie; sister-in-law, Kathy (Sam) Massie; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A private family service will be held. Friends are invited to attend graveside services on Friday, Apr. 26, at 11 a.m. at the Mount Vernon Cemetery, Fort Spring. Services will be conducted by longtime friend Pastor Stewart Farley.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Massie, Ryan Nuckoles, Randy Nuckolas, Jason McCallister, Josh Blankenship, Joey Glover and TJ LaRue.
In lieu of flowers the Family requests memorial donations be made to Greenbrier Valley Academy, 235 N. Court St., Lewisburg, WV 24901 in honor of Sonny.
