Just announced as a special event of the Clay Center Presents spring performance season, southern rock jam band Gov’t Mule will take the Clay Center stage Saturday, Feb. 22 at 8 p.m.
What started as a side project for guitarist Warren Haynes and the late Allen Woody of the Allman Brothers Band, the Mule has developed a cult following and become a staple act at music festivals such as Bonnaroo, Wakarusa, Mountain Jam and New Orleans Jazz Fest. Hear elements of blues, funk and hard rock mixed into a southern sound as this impressive group of extraordinary musicians plays a variety of original songs from the past two decades and music from its latest album.
The group’s September 2013 release, “Shout!,” includes 11 new tracks plus a bonus disc featuring an all-star lineup of vocalists. Special guests Elvis Costello, Dr. John, Ben Harper, Toots Hibbert, Glenn Hughes, Jim James, Myles Kennedy, Dave Matthews, Grace Potter, Vintage Trouble’s Ty Taylor and Steve Winwood interpret the Mule’s new songs on this unique addition.
This special event performance is part of the Clay Center Presents Spring 2014 performance season. Support is being provided by Roger L. Nicholson Law Offices.
