Samuel Henry Williams, Jr.
Rupert-Samuel Henry Williams, Jr., 88, formerly of Alderson, passed away Wednesday, Apr. 22, 2015, at the University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville, VA, following a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Born Sept. 12, 1926, in Alderson, he was the son of the late Samuel Henry and Agnes Mae Loomis Williams.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jack L. Williams; and a sister, Audrey Frances Williams Thompson.
Mr. Williams was a lineman/serviceman, having retired from Appalachian Power Company, Rainelle, retiring after 35 years of service. He was a World War II veteran, having served our country in the United States Navy and was a member of the Big Clear Creek Baptist Church in Rupert. Mr. Williams was an avid golfer who loved golf, was a devoted husband, and a loving father and grandfather.
Survivors include: his wife of 65 years, Faye Williams of Rupert; two sons, Samuel Henry Williams, III of Huntington and Randal Terry Williams and wife Judy of Louisa, VA; brother, Harold Williams and wife Liz of Sarasota, FL; sister, Lillian Williams Burns of Perrysburg, OH; sister-in-law, Toni L. Williams of Alderson; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Apr. 26, at the Lobban Funeral Home Chapel, Alderson, where Pastor Glen Kuhn officiated. Burial was in the Fletcher Addition of the Alderson Cemetery, Alderson, where military funeral honors were conducted.
Friends called Saturday at the funeral home before the service.
Family members served as pallbearers.
