Melinda Kay Whitlock, 66, of Ronceverte, passed away on Mar. 23, 2026 at Peyton Hospice House following an extended illness.

She was born July 28, 1959 in Frankfort, KY, the daughter of the late Howard and Iva Richmond Fortner.

Melinda was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Beckley. She was a proud Registered Nurse having worked at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center and then with Dr. Speilman. Her greatest accomplishment was being a proud mother and grandmother.

Other than her parents she was preceded in death by son Jimmy Hammons, Jr., granddaughter Season Hammons and brother C. J. Fortney.

Surviving are her husband Timothy Whitlock of Levisay; daughters, Selena Struckman of Lewisburg; son, Nathan Hammons (Amber Hoard) of Lewisburg; grandchildren, Haley Struckman, Kameron Bradley Hammons and Landon Hammons; great-grandchildren, Malia King and Estella Bell; sisters, Matilda Sweeney of White Sulphur Springs and Lynn Duba (Phillip) of Frankford; brother, Butch Richmond of Gloucester, VA. and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Melinda will be Sunday Mar. 29, at 2 p.m. at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg with Mr. Phillip Duba officiating with interment to follow in Rosewood Cemetery in Lewisburg.

The family will receive family and friends from 1 until 2 p.m. on Sunday, Mar. 29, at the funeral home.
