The Greenbrier County Young Writer 2013-14 winners, their schools and teachers are as follows:

• Kindergarten: “The Big Egg” by Samuel Jones, Lewisburg Baptist Academy, Mrs. Connie Comer, teacher; Honorable Mention: “Lost in the Woods” by Brook Adkins, Rupert Elementary, Chris Peters; “Cheerleading” by Ella Lewis, Lewisburg Elementary, Debra Johnson

• 1st-2nd Grade: “Do Unicorns Live in Fairy Tales?” by Katelyn Heaster, Rupert Elementary, Ann Foley; Honorable Mention: “Rose Is Lost” by Alanis McClary, Ronceverte Elementary, Deborah W. Johnson

• 3rd-4th Grade: “The Little Tree” by Abigail Herndon, Frankford Elementary, Shawn Hill/Amber Workman; Honorable Mention: “An African Miracle” by Haley Ford, Frankford Elementary, Shawn Hill/Amber Workman

• 5th-6th Grade: “ A Family United” by Hannah Cochran, Frankford Elementary, Amber Workman; Honorable Mention: “The Snowflake Adventure”  by Serenity Hammons, Eastern Greenbrier Middle School, Jennifer McCallister

• 7th-8th Grade: “When the Cherry Blossoms Fall” by Leilani LaVigne, Eastern Greenbrier Middle School, Brindi Anderson

• 9th-10th Grade: “My Sweet Sixteen and the Stop Sign” by Ali Montie, Lewisburg Baptist Academy, Blaine Comer

• 11th-12th Grade: “Time” by MacKinzie Smith, Greenbrier West High School, Juanita Spinks; Honorable Mention: “The Farm” by Kali Miller,  Greenbrier East High School, Cheryl Smith
