Carnegie Hall takes its 2026 Ivy Terrace Outdoor Music Series on the road with a performance by Mindy Murray and the Lobelians on Thursday, Aug. 13, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine (WVSOM) Student Center Outdoor Amphitheater. The community is encouraged to bring a picnic dinner and lawn chairs to this family-friendly gathering.
All Ivy Terrace concerts are free, alcohol‑free, generously sponsored by City National Bank, and will move into the Conference Center in the WVSOM Student Center in the event of inclement weather. For updates, concertgoers are encouraged to follow Carnegie Hall’s Facebook page.
Mindy Murray’s edgy rootsy songs are born of oral history, urban legend and newspaper clippings and are delivered with passion and intensity. They contain pervasive themes of hard-working folk and many reflect life in the 1800 and 1900s both in Appalachia and in the Mid-Atlantic region. They have been acclaimed nationally and internationally from the website of the American Mineworkers of America to major international music journals including fRoots and No Depression. Her songs have been recognized as first place winners by the International Women’s Freedom Songs and the International Songwriters Day organizations in 2020 through 2026. Murray has performed her songs on the stages of many venues and festivals including the Philadelphia Folk Festival, the New Jersey Folk Festival, the Cup of Tae Festival (Donegal, Ireland) and the Northern Appalachian Folk Festival and is thrilled to again share her songs and the stories behind them at the Ivy Terrace concert.
This represents a coming home of sorts for Murray who graduated from WVSOM in the 1980s. Her roots at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine run deep, shaping both her career and the life she built with her husband, Angelo Ratini, whom she met during a WVSOM Spring Break in 1982. A member of the Class of 1984, Murray carried WVSOM’s patient centered, hands on philosophy into her Family Practice career in Bristol, Pennsylvania, where she and Angelo have cared for their community for four decades with a special focus on geriatrics. Her commitment to osteopathic education never waned – she has taught countless residents and students, including many from WVSOM, through Lower Bucks Hospital’s residency program, extending the school’s influence far beyond West Virginia. Today, her professional reach includes serving as a Clinical Assistant Professor at PCOM, holding hospital appointments across Bucks County, and contributing nationally as a Medical Editor for WebMD, all grounded in the osteopathic values first nurtured at WVSOM.
She is thrilled to be joined by a handful of wonderful musicians from the Lobelia area with whom she has had the joy of playing over the years. The musicians include Bob and Ginger Must, Erica Marks, Bob Foster, and other special guests. Bob Must, DO also graduated from WVSOM in 1984 and then spent 30 years doing family practice in Pocahontas County. Bob Foster, DO is a graduate of the Kansas City School of Osteopathic Medicine and is Professor Emeritus of WVSOM.
