WV Irish Road Bowling
Association, PRO
After years of competing with highly skilled Irish road bowlers from Boston and New York, West Virginia finally broke through Sunday, capturing three of the four North American Region Finals at stake on Turkey Run Road, Buckhannon, including both the go-to-Ireland Novice 1 and Novice 2 titles.
Stephen Wallington, Huntington, Novice 1, and Travis McClintic, Lewisburg, Novice 2, will represent the USA and the North American Region in the ultimate competition, the Bol-Chumannnah Eireann All Ireland Finals, Sept. 12 and 13 in Drogheda, Co Louth near Dublin.
Wayne Marrs, West Union, with a gritty come-from-behind semi-final win, took the Novice 3 national championship. The Novice 4 championship went to Pat Jo O’Sullivan of New York.
