After a nationwide search for a new development director, the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra found the newest member of its staff in the orchestra. Pamela Murchison accepted the position as Development Director while remaining a WVSO flutist.
“It’s a privilege to be a musician with the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra, and I’m so excited to work with the organization in this new capacity,” Murchison said.
Murchison began her new role with the Symphony on Jan. 15 and will leave her her position as Executive Director of the Pittsburgh New Music Ensemble on Jan. 31. Last December, she received her Doctor of Music Arts degree from West Virginia University. This year is her 8th season as 3rd flute/piccolo in the WVSO.
“As a proud member of the Charleston arts community, I look forward to playing a more active role in strengthening the relationships between the WVSO and the community it serves,” Murchison said.
WVSO staff and friends show great excitement for their new member. President Joe Tackett is especially thrilled to have another member of the team that truly loves and understands the mission of the organization.
“We are excited to welcome Pam on board. Her administrative experience as well as her passion as a musician will serve the orchestra, so it can continue to be the crown jewel in the arts community of West Virginia,” Tackett said.
