The West Virginia Division of Culture and History is offering a quilt workshop with Priscilla Godfrey, National Quilting Association (NQA) certified judge, on Friday, May 6, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Culture Center, State Capitol Complex in Charleston. The workshop is suitable for beginning and intermediate quilters. Class size is limited and registration is required. There is a $20 fee per person.
The workshop, “Celebration on the Courthouse Steps,” will teach students how to make a paper-pieced variation of a nine-inch log cabin quilt block. Pre-marked paper foundation patterns will be provided.
Priscilla Godfrey of Philomont, VA, has been quilting for more than 30 years. She is known for her precision piecing, realistic three-dimensional applique and pictorials of the Loudoun County countryside in Virginia. She has been an NQA-certified judge since 1986 and has judged in many states along the Eastern Seaboard and Midwest.
She also has exhibited and won awards for her quilts at National Quilting Association annual shows throughout the United States and represented Loudoun County, VA, in Frankfurt and Hoffheim, Germany, in 2012 at an international art exchange. Her piece was purchased by the Town of Hoffheim. Since 1979, Godfrey has been a member and officer at the Waterford Quilters Guild in Waterford, VA, and currently serves as 2016 Auction Committee Chairman.
For more information about the quilt workshop, or to register and receive a supply list, contact Cailin Howe, exhibits coordinator for the division, at 304-558-0220, ext. 128.
