The West Virginia Democratic Party announced a new grassroots organizing program, Stand Up Summer, part of the Democratic Party’s Resistance Summer project designed to bolster state party organizing efforts across the country.

Stand Up Summer is a grassroots organizing program aiming to strengthen and expand Democrats in West Virginia and win from school board to Senate in 2018 and beyond. The goal of the program is to enable grassroots organizing across the state from small communities and neighborhoods to cities.

“West Virginia Democrats are more fired up than ever before and we’re ready to expand and engage our voters to win in 2018 and beyond,” said Belinda Biafore, WVDP chair. “We’re extremely excited to partner with Democrats across the state and country to win so that our children do not go without quality education and families and parents don’t suffer without health care. It’s more important now than ever before to ensure that Democrats win because we have a lot to lose under Republican leadership.”

The day-long meeting held recently in Charleston was attended by representatives from across the state.
