The Women of the Henning Church of God gathered Sept. 12 in the church fellowship hall for their regular monthly meeting. Carole Spencer presided and Marty Burns led in prayer.

Dyan Hefner, spiritual life director, gave the devotion, with scripture reference from Matthew 19:26. A person can accomplish more with God in one hour than a lifetime without God. She also, shared a way to pray from A-Z with descriptions of God.

Bonnie Dodrill, missionary education co-chair, shared, “We Reach Our Hands,” with scripture reference from Deuteronomy 15:11, II Samuel 22:21, Psalms 63:4 and 111:7. Hands are mentioned over 780 times in scripture, but mostly in the Old Testament. Reaching hands are an awesome responsibility. We reach our hands up, down and out. They are an important part of life. The most important way we can use our hands is to help people. If we cannot physically help people, we can pray for them.

Jamie Harvey gave the treasurer’s report, and Pauline Perkins read last month’s minutes. The group reported sending 111 cards, making 26 visits and 34 phone calls.

The group discussed upcoming events. The Bean Dinner will be held Monday, Oct. 2 at 6 p.m., apple butter will be made on Oct. 21, and apple and pumpkin pies will be made on Oct. 23. The next meeting will be held Oct. 10.

Marsha Merritt dismissed in prayer.

Attending were: Alice Coff, August Hefner, Barb Seldomridge, Betty Lou Byers, Bonnie Dodrill, Carole Spencer, Cindy Fleshman, Donna Scott, Dyan Hefner, Evon Persinger, Jamie Harvey, Joan Vance, Marty Burns, Marsha Merritt, Patty Owens, Pauline Perkins, Shirley Loudermilk, and Rosie Blake.
