Withrow, Kisner, Holmes win state horseshoe tournament

The 81st WV State Singles Horseshoe Tournament was held at Ronceverte Island Park on Aug. 25. The event was hosted by the Mountaineer Horseshoe Club.

The winners of the tournament are as follows:

Men’s State Champion: Allen Withrow, Ronceverte; Women’s State Champion: Barbara Kisner, Fairmont; Elders State Champion: Dave Holmes, Charleston; Class “A” Winner: Jerry Davis, Lewisburg; Class “B” Winner: Stacy Hudson, Brandywine; Class “C” Winner: Gene Goins, Rainelle; and Class “A” Elders Winner: Bill Liggett, Pinegrove.

The Mountaineer Horseshoe Club would like to thank all the sponsors for the great support they provided in order to accomplish this very successful state tournament. Without their help the tournament could not have gone on.

The club would like to thank the following businesses for their support: A&W Architectural Wood, Wallace & Wallace, Morgan’s Funeral Home, All Construction, Bank of Monroe, Fritz’s Pharmacy, Appalachian Electronic Institute, Falcon Analytical, Greenbrier Home Inspections, Concrete Foundations, Masters Mech-Tech, Sandra E.
