White Sulphur Springs-William Thomas Yates, 88, known by many as “Bill,” passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at CAMC in Charleston, WV, following a sudden illness.
Born Sept. 29, 1931, in Frankford to the late Flora Mae (Loudermilk) Yates and John Thomas Yates.
Bill was a veteran. He served in the U.S. Air Force in Japan for four years. He worked at the Burlington Mills Ribbon Factory in White Sulphur Springs for a short period of time. He then became an employee of The Greenbrier where he worked for 49 years until he retired in May of 2010.
Bill is survived by two sisters, Alice Yates and Anna Mae Pitsenbarger, both of Frankford; six nieces, Carol Hunt, Sylvia Johnson (Joe), Marlene Holdren (Butch), Sharon Harrison (Joe), Karen Phillips (Sonny) and Terri Pitsenbarger (John); three great-nephews, James Cook III, Joe Harrison III (Lara) and Jerry Rogers Jr. and family; two great-nieces, Sara Crane (Casey) and girls and Angel Lewis (Doug) and great-great-nephew, Harrison Lewis; and several cousins and many special friends.
His wishes were to be cremated. There will be no service due to the Corona Virus.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
