He was a graduate of Frankford High School and Beckley College. After graduating from Cincinnati School of Mortuary Science he started his funeral services career with the former Jack K. Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg. Bill then went to work for Shanklin Funeral Home in White Sulphur Springs and with time became the owner and operator of Shanklin Funeral Home.

Although Mr. Higginbotham never had children, left behind to cherish his memory are his siblings, Lucy Tuckwiller and husband Ben of Lewisburg and Charles Higginbotham and wife Carla of Frankford; nieces and nephews, Anthony Banton and wife Jennifer, Megan Crane and husband Josh, Stephen Snyder and wife Leann, Michael Snyder, Russ Higginbotham and wife Heather, Josh Higginbotham and wife Kelli; as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 7, at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in White Sulphur Springs, formerly known as Shanklin Funeral Home, where Rev. Emory Hanna officiated. Burial followed in Rosewood Cemetery.

Friends called Wednesday evening, Dec. 6, at the funeral home.
