William “Bill” Perry McGuire, 52, of Lewisburg passed away on June 7, 2025, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Fairlea following a sudden illness.
He was born Sept. 23, 1972, in Hinton, the son of the late Perry and Sharon Kirby McGuire.
Bill had graduated with an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice. His career had taken him to being a Deputy Sheriff with the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office in Virginia, Correctional Officer at Anthony Creek Correctional Center in Neola and then retiring in 2017 as a Deputy Sheriff with the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office. He had worked with the Greenbrier County Ambulance Service and most recently helped with the Towing services for Roger Bennett.
His proudest accomplishment was being a Firefighter Engineer and Corporate Secretary with the Fairlea Fire Department.
Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his best friend and firefighter Gregory Carter.
Bill leaves behind to cherish his memory, his son Lane; fiancé Dee Ford; Lane’s mother Terra Shockley; Dee’s children Erik Ford and Haylie Ford; Tim and Valerie Boggs; Tracy Boggs, Terra’s sister, and all his firefighter friends and family.
Funeral service for Bill McGuire is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 12, at Rhema Christian Center in Lewisburg with Pastor Steve Accord officiating. Interment will follow in Greenbrier Memorial Gardens in Lewisburg.
The family will receive family and friends from 3 until 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 12, at the church.
Those serving as pallbearers will be his Firefighters friends with the Fairlea Fire Department.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests Memorial contributions be made to Fairlea Fire Department, The Greg Carter Scholarship Fund, 250 Third Street, Lewisburg, WV 24901.
