Wilbur Jacob Hilton, Sr.

White Sulphur Springs-Wilbur Jacob Hilton, Sr. 92, passed away Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017, at his home.

He was born Aug. 28, 1924, in Callaghan, VA, to the late Eula Lottie Mines and Robert Wesley Hilton.

In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his wife, Cova Magdeline Dalton and his youngest sister, Darlene Baldwin; and brothers, James Hilton and William R. Hilton.

Mr. Hilton served in World War II in the Infantry as a Medic, as a driver for officers.

He was an assistant purchasing agent at The Greenbrier Hotel, retiring after 50 years of service. He also was a Master Mason at the Alleghany Lodge number 136 of White Sulphur Springs. As an avid golfer, he was proud of his “Two holes in One” and the time he spent with his golfing friends.

Survivors include his son, “Buddy’’ Wilbur J. Hilton, Jr.; daughter, Cheryl H. Clark and husband JM of Wake Forrest, NC; brother, Isaac “Ike’’ of Gap Mills; sister, Genevieve “Libby” Murray of White Sulphur Springs; grandchildren, David M. Clark of Raleigh, NC, and Lisa C. Dreyer and husband Bill of Orange, VA; five great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Services were held Sunday, Feb. 19, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg where Pastor Robert McClintic officiated. Burial followed in Rosewood Cemetery, Lewisburg.

Visitation was Saturday evening, Feb. 18, at the funeral home.
