“We Are the Greatest Class Alive, Senior Class of ‘65” was the motto of the Class of 1965 of the former White Sulphur High School when it graduated in May, 1965. This past month, members of the class gathered at the White Sulphur Springs Civic Center for its 50th anniversary reunion.
Headed by Chairman, Lance and Lou Clinebell Mazey of Roanoke, VA, the Class Reunion Banquet was held in the Ware Room of the White Sulphur Springs Civic Center, catered by the Mason Jar with a beautifully decorated cake centered with the Green Devil by B Sweet Bakery.
Special guests for the banquet were Mrs. Glenna Hefner of White Sulphur Springs, retired instructor of business at White Sulphur High School, Mrs. Joan Gunnoe of White Sulphur Springs, retired instructor of English at WSHS, and Mrs. Sue King, retired instructor of Math at WSHS. Later in the evening, members of the Class met with Mr. George Piercy of Fairlea, retired instructor of Social Studies and head basketball coach at WSHS.
During the social hours following the banquet, Bill Whanger, a member of the Class living in Germany visited with Class members via Skype.
A “Thanks for the Memories” table in the Ware Room honored the memory of ten members of the Class who are deceased.
On Sunday, a Class picnic was held at the home of Mike Williams near Maxwelton.
