Week 5 of Garth Newel’s Summer Festival presents Evening in Paris and Romantic Russians

Garth Newel Music Center presents the fifth week of the 2015 Summer Festival with two concerts featuring resident musicians, Teresa Ling, violin, Evelyn Grau, viola and Isaac Melamed, cello. Joining the resident musicians will be guest artists Bayla Keyes, violin, Anya Shemetyeva Merfeld, violin, Jospeh Lee, cello, Read Gainsford, piano, Robert Merfeld, harmonium and piano and Shawn I. Puller, tenor. The concert on Saturday, Aug. 1 at 5 p.m., Evening in Paris is followed by an optional dinner and the concert on Sunday, Aug. 2 at 3 p.m., Romantic Russians is followed by an optional picnic.
During the musical icebreaker on Saturday, Aug. 1 at 4 p.m., Proust aficionada Lee Elliott exposes the real-life composers who inhabited Proust’s life and works. The works of Saint-Saëns, Debussy, Hahn and Franck will be performed for the 5 p.m. concert. The concert on Sunday, Aug. 2 at 3 p.m. features the works of Rachmaninoff, Glinka, Stravinsky and Glazunov.
