Greenbrier Valley Theatre (GVT), the State Professional Theatre of West Virginia, will host the Washington Street Strutters Monday, Mar. 28 at 7:30 p.m. in the Daywood Lobby. Tickets are $16 for general admission, $13 for seniors and $11 for children/students. For tickets or more information, call GVT’s Box Office at 304-645-3838 or visit www.gvtheatre.org.
The concert will include jazz, swing, blues and other familiar favorites for an evening of toe-tapping entertainment. They will be performing such songs as “Sweet Georgia Brown,” “After You’ve Gone” and “When the Saints Go Marching In.”
“The group’s been together for about a dozen years now [and is] named after its residency on Washington Street,” clarinet player Joe Buttram said.
Buttram explained that the group consists of wonderful local musicians and the jazz band is known for their Dixieland-style tunes and popular country and swing favorites.
The ensemble includes Cathey Sawyer on vocals, Buttram on clarinet, Kermit Medsker on piano, Brian Carr on trombone, Jay Frye on tuba and bass, Jeff Bryant on trumpet and Tim Pyne on drums.
