Walter M. Lockhart, 88, from Lewisburg, peacefully departed this world on May 6, 2025, at the Peyton Hospice House, comforted by the compassionate staff to whom the family extends their heartfelt gratitude.

Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara Lockhart, cherished son, Christopher Lockhart, and brothers, William and Donald Lockhart, and grandson Steven, Walter is survived by his devoted wife, Francine Lockhart. He leaves behind a loving family, including his brother, Robert Lockhart, and sisters, Joan Brock (Earl) and Linda Wilson (Russell). Walter’s legacy continues through his children: David Lockhart (Beth), Donita Heller (John), DeeDee Partridge (Jason), Kimberly Snyder (Brett), and Karen Lockhart (Chris). He was a grandfather to 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Walter was a beacon of kindness in his community, dedicating his life to helping those less fortunate. His unwavering commitment to service and his warm, generous nature touched the lives of many. Walter’s contributions to the community will be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In addition to his contributions to the community, Walter M. Lockhart was a dedicated serviceman. He proudly served his country in the Navy, Air Force, and Army Reserves, demonstrating a remarkable commitment to duty and patriotism. His military service is a testament to his unwavering dedication and perseverance, values that he carried throughout his life.

As we celebrate Walter’s life, we remember his dedication to faith and community. His legacy of love and service will continue to inspire those who follow in his footsteps.

A celebration of Walter M. Lockhart’s life will be held at a later date. Details will be shared with family and friends once arrangements are finalized.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Peyton Hospice House, 1265 Maplewood Avenue, Lewisburg, WV 24901.
