Unofficial Primary Election results announced

As of 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14, the polls closed for the Primary Election. Later that same evening, the Greenbrier County Courthouse released the unofficial results of the election, and reported a voter turnout of 33.23 percent overall.

County-level positions including Board of Education members and the Conservation District Supervisor were determined by the primary election, along with judicial candidates including the WV Supreme Court of Appeals, the WV Intermediate Court of Appeals, circuit court judges, family court judges, and magistrate judges. Other positions on the ballot secured their nominations for the main election in November. 

Primary Election results are as follows:

County Commissioner: 

Tammy Shifflett Tincher (winner): 2,416 votes (53.10%)

Robert (Bobby) Ford: 2,134 votes (46.90%)

Prosecuting Attorney:

Nicole Graybeal (uncontested): 3,571 votes

Greenbrier County Sheriff:

Bart Baker (winner): 3,115 votes (66.89%)

Charles (Doug) Beard: 1,247 votes (26.78%)

Mark Alan Robinson: 295 votes (6.33%)

Assessor:

Joseph Darnell (uncontested): 2,066

Circuit Court Judge, Division 1:

Robert E. Richardson (winner): 3,519 votes (50.55%)

Ryan Blake: 3,442 votes (49.45%)

Circuit Court Judge, Division 2:

Patrick Via (uncontested): 5,917 votes

Family Court Judge:

Grady Ford (winner): 3,143 votes (44.54%)

Kelly Kemp: 2,249 votes (31.87%)

Christine Stump: 1,664 votes (23.58%)

Magistrate Judge, Division 1:

Timothy Stover (uncontested): 6,093 votes

Magistrate Judge, Division 2:

Kim Johnson (uncontested): 5,992 votes

Magistrate Judge, Division 3:

Kirby Hanson (uncontested): 5,793 votes

Board of Education:

Bobby McClintic (winner): 4,312 votes (44.89%)

Mary Jane Humphreys (winner): 3,657 votes (38.07%)

Mina Botross: 1,637 votes (17.04%)

Conservation District Supervisor:

Gary W. Sawyers (uncontested): 5,855 votes

House of Delegates 46th District, Republican Nominee:

Jeff Campbell (winner): 1,134 votes (54.03%)

Trey Ewing: 652 votes (31.06%)

Thomas Perkins: 313 votes (14.91%)

House of Delegates 47th District, Republican Nominee:

Ray Canterbury (winner): 950 votes (39.09%)

George “Boogie” Ambler: 791 votes (32.55%)

Stephen Snyder: 689 votes (28.35%)

House of Delegates 46th District, Democratic Nominee:

Paul S. Detch (uncontested): 862 votes

House of Delegates 47th District, Democratic Nominee:

Kayla M. McCoy (winner): 704 votes (59.97%)

Roger Vannoy: 470 votes (40.03%)

Other race totals for Greenbrier County include:

President – Republican nominee:

Donald Trump: 4,279 votes (89.29%)

President – Democratic nominee:

Joseph Biden: 1,627 votes (75.82%)

U.S. Senator – Republican nominee:

Jim Justice: 2,980 votes (63.02%)

U.S. Senator – Democratic nominee:

Zachary Shewsbury: 1,190 votes (54.99%)

U.S. House of Representatives – Republican nominee:

Carol Miller: 2,830 votes (62.83%)

U.S. House of Representatives – Democratic nominee:

Jim Umberger: 2,098 votes (91.62%)

State:

Governor – Republican nominee:

Patrick Morrisey: 1,624 votes (33.93%)

Governor – Democratic nominee:

Steve Williams: 1,964 votes

Secretary of State – Republican nominee:

Kris Warner: 2,249 votes (52.30%)

Thornton Cooper: 1,825 votes

Larry Pack: 3,691 votes

Commissioner of Agriculture – Republican nominee:

Kent Leonhardt: 2,119 votes (51.22%)

Deborah Stiles: 1,909 votes

Attorney General – Republican nominee:

John “JB” McCuskey: 2,458 votes (58.03%)

Attorney General – Democratic nominee:

Richie Robb: 1,064 votes (52.11%)

State Senator 10th Senatorial District – Republican nominee:

Jack David Woodrum: 3,809 votes
