Two receive soccer scholarships

Courtney Cole, head soccer coach at Greenbrier East High School, stands between two of her players who have signed for scholarships offered by West Virginia schools. Keirston Sutherland (left) will attend Concord. She played outside midfielder last season. “She was really important, getting the ball to the outside, so we could get nice crosses in,” said Cole. Sutherland is the daughter of Michael and Tamyra Sutherland from Alderson. Makenna Blankenship (right) will play at WVU Tech. “She was my one and only goalie,” stated her coach. “Pretty much kept all the goals out. Only 12 goals were scored on her all season. She shut down a lot of teams.” Blankenship is the daughter of Pete and Stephanie Blankenship from Lewisburg. (Photo by Mark Robinson)
