TriCity CEOS learned about many kinds of bulbs at their September meeting. It will soon be the time of year to plant bulbs for beautiful spring flowers.
When the soil temperature falls below 50 degrees, bulbs can be planted for best success of a tulip, daffodil and crocus show in the spring. In spring when the soil temperature reaches 55 degrees, a variety of bulbs, rhizomes, and corms can be planted for summer blooms.
Members attending were Ida Lea Gosik, Annette Thompson, Betty Jo McNeel, Lynn Humphreys, Sally Holliday and Patty Gray.
Laura Sevy, a representative of AmeriCorps Seniors, presented members with tote bags and USA 250 drink cups in thanks for the 500+ volunteer hours accumulated in 2026.
Annette Thompson, Sally Holliday, and Lynn Humphreys served as information ambassadors at the State Fair of WV distributing information about CEOS and their project to adopt a state pledge to the WV flag.
The Fall Leadership Meeting for Greenbrier County CEOS will be Sept. 23 at the Renick Community Center. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m. and the program topic is: “Getting Active.”
TriCity’s Oct. 13 meeting will be at the Ronceverte Baptist Church at 1 p.m. Anyone interested in joining a CEOS group can contact Mary at WVU Extension Service by calling 304-647-7408.
