A new restaurant is preparing to bring a taste of Southern comfort and nostalgia to Lewisburg. The Simple Spoon, owned by David Shay and Jamie Umbarger, will offer home-style favorites inspired by family meals and traditional recipes, in the small blue building, located beside Tudor’s on 219 North.

The restaurant’s cozy atmosphere will feature vintage décor, mismatched tables and dishes, and a welcoming, home-like setting.

Menu plans include favorites such as meatloaf, chicken and dumplings, macaroni and stewed tomatoes, along with grab-and-go lunches, catering and Sunday specials.

The owners also hope to give back to the community through nonprofit fundraising events and programs helping provide meals to those in need.

Once open, Shay and Umbarger hope The Simple Spoon will become a place where residents can enjoy familiar food, good conversation and a feeling of home. For the owners, the name says it all: sometimes the simplest things-a good meal, a comfortable chair and time together, are the things that matter most.
