Teresa Faye Birchfield, 60, of Rainelle passed away after a short illness at WVU-Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown on Friday, Aug. 15, 2025. She was born on Oct. 17, 1964, in Sleepy Hollow, WV, to the late Johnie and Shirley (Crookshanks) Birchfield.

Teresa worked several jobs through the years but loved being a disk jockey for WYKM-Rupert the most. She loved music and talking. Teresa was very much a people person. Her favorite place to visit was going to the Outer Banks in North Carolina.

Teresa’s world revolved around her son Nathanial and taking care of him. Her love of her family was obvious up until her last moments when she was concerned about her sisters and them being alright. She was a loving sister, daughter, and mother.

Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother-in-law James Thomas.

Those left to cherish her memory and love are her son Nathaniel Harris-Birchfield, and sisters Patricia Thomas and Lisa Birchfield.

Teresa requested a private graveside service.

Smathers Funeral Chapel is honored to have been entrusted to care for Teresa and her family during their time of need.

Online condolences may be made at www.smathersfuneralchapelinc.com
