On the evening of Mar. 29, the Hub student café, a High Rocks program, held its second annual Battle of the Bands at Hill & Holler restaurant in downtown Lewisburg. The goal of the event is to highlight local youth musicians and give them an opportunity to experience performing for a crowd in a professional setting.
Over 100 people were in attendance. The performers brought their A-game to the battle; more than 20 students from southern West Virginia performed a variety of music including original songs and popular covers. The winner in the Crowd Choice category Skip Class Play Brass, a brass ensemble from Greenbrier East High School with fantastic talent, had the crowd dancing their entire set. Revanna Preston, a creative and soulful singer-songwriter, was the overall winner. High Rocks would like to thank City National Bank for sponsoring the event, Hill & Holler for providing the venue, and our expert panel of judges: Devin Preston, Adam DeGraff, and Ethan Jones.
