Sylvia Ann Rybolt Byrd

Alderson-Sylvia Ann Rybolt Byrd, 81, formerly of Riverside, CA, passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2016, at the Peyton Hospice House, Lewisburg, following a sudden illness.
Born Aug. 12, 1934, in Oklahoma City, OK, she was the daughter of the late Glenn and Nell M. Stewart Walker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William W. Byrd; daughter, Denise Annette Baker; two sons, Rodney Lee Conine and Randall Delaine Guy; and nephew, Philip “Flip” Walker.
Mrs. Byrd was a devout Christian who took care of her family along with strangers. She was a very caring and generous woman who donated to charity along with her time and her prayers. When she was younger, she worked as a nurse, caring for those in need and even as she grew older, she took great care of the people around her. She formerly attended the Flat Mountain Missionary Baptist Church in Alderson, and enjoyed crafts, learning history and bible study. Mrs. Byrd was a woman of purpose and grace who lived a life with God in her heart. She will forever remain in ours.
Survivors include: three children, Sharon Balen of Casper, WY, Terry Conine of Needles, CA and Valerie Gunter of Asbury; two brothers, Philip Walker of Elephant Butte, NM and Glenn Walker of Grants Pass, OR; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren and four nephews.
Funeral services will be on Friday, June 17, at 2 p.m. at the Flat Mountain Missionary Baptist Church, Flat Mountain Road, Alderson, with the Rev. Gary Baker officiating. Burial will follow at the Mount Vernon Cemetery, Fort Spring.
Friends may call Friday, June 17, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Flat Mountain Missionary Baptist Church, Flat Mountain Road, Alderson.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Arrangements by Lobban Funeral Home, Alderson.
