Sunflower Contest held at Lewisburg Elementary for 56th year

The Lewisburg House and Garden Club has participated with the students of Lewisburg Elementary School since 1959 with a conservation project to introduce them to the care of the environment we live in including our landscape and wildlife.

The sunflower seed distribution to the students at Lewisburg Elementary School in May is to plant the seeds given to them in anticipation of the Sunflower Contest in September as well as to watch the sunflowers grow and produce many seeds for the birds during the winter months. The purpose of the project is to introduce the children to conservation, to compete with fellow students and enjoy the experience.
