Sunflower Contest held at Lewisburg Elementary

Townley Hamilton, chair of the Conservation Committee and Sunflower Contest, and her committee of the Lewisburg House and Garden Club met at the Lewisburg Elementary School on Sept. 27, for the annual Sunflower Contest participation by the students from Kindergarden through Fifth Grades.
Students participating in Ms. Carr’s Fifth Grade Class were Lauren Surbaugh with a 45” sunflower for Class Winner. In Ms. White’s Fifth Grade, Hunter Wamsley entered a 44 1/2” sunflower for Class Winner; and Justin McCullough was Class Winner in Ms. Foster’s Fifth Grade Class with a 41” sunflower. Zach Taylor was runner-up with a 38” sunflower.
In the Fourth Grade, Mr. Williams Class, Chris Jackson entered a 54” sunflower for Class winner and Brooke Davis was runner-up with a 49” sunflower, third place was Liana Brooks with a 38” sunflower and fourth place was Kindal Hilton whose sunflower measured 33”.
In Mrs. Gray’s Third Grade Class the winning entry was a 46” sunflower by Adams Seams; Mrs. Dolan’s Third Grade entries were Class winner Tristan VanBuren with a 29” sunflower, Sam Totten with a 39” sunflower and Christy Casey with a 19” sunflower; Kymberlyn Morgan was Class winner with a 50” sunflower, Runner-up was Gavin Brown with a 48” sunflower followed by Henry Goodwin with a 43” sunflower. Mrs. Miller’s Second Grade Class had Garon Wiseman as Class winner with a 45” sunflower, runner-up was Gavin Pyne with a 44” sunflower, close behind was Keilei Christian with a 43 1/2” sunflower, Rylee Carver entered a 43” sunflower and Caden Carver’s sunflower measured 37”.
Mrs. McCormick’s Second Grade produced the class winner as well as the overall school winner with an immense 57” sunflower and Gracie Morgan was runner-up with a 36” sunflower.
Mrs. Ambler’s Second grade had two entries – Lantry McClung was Class winner with a 42” sunflower and Ian Cline was runner-up with a 34” sunflower; The Classroom winner in Mrs. Smith’s 2nd Grade was Lily Dense with a 28” sunflower.
