New River Community and Technical College is providing an opportunity for students to try college for free this summer in the Prep 4 Success program.

“This is a great opportunity for anyone who has wanted to go to college in the past, but has been hesitant to enroll,” explained Regional Director of Operations for the Greenbrier Valley Campus Roger Griffith. “Over the course of eight weeks, students have the opportunity to attend class and experience college while learning skills that will help them succeed in college.”

Prep 4 Success, a free college transition program, will be offered on New River CTC’s campuses in Beaver, Lewisburg, Princeton and Summersville twice a week for eight weeks from noon to 5 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays starting June 11 at the college’s campus in Lewisburg and on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting June 12 at the college’s campuses in Beaver, Princeton and Summersville.

To qualify for the program, students must have earned a high school diploma or high school equivalency diploma and never attended college previously. Participants will benefit from advice and tips on succeeding in college, a course on computer applications and math and English workshops to help boost placement test results. Those who successfully complete the program will receive four hours of college credit.

There is no cost for the Prep 4 Success program and seating is limited.

For additional information about classes in Beaver and Princeton contact William Potter (304-256-0262, wpotter@newriver.edu), in Lewisburg contact Rachel Kelly (304-647-6591, rkelly@newriver.edu) and in Summersville contact Mary Igo (304-883-2424, migo@newriver.edu).

New River Community and Technical College serves nine counties in southeastern West Virginia from the Greenbrier Valley Campus (Lewisburg), Mercer County Campus (Princeton), Nicholas County Campus (Summersville) and Raleigh County Campus (Beaver/Beckley).
