“With deep sadness, we share the news of the passing of a beloved staff member and coach, Mr. Mark Gray. Last evening, he collapsed during a football game at Western Greenbrier Middle School and was transported via ambulance to the hospital, where he later passed away. Mr. Gray was a cherished part of our school community, known for his dedication, kindness, and unwavering support for our students.
“We understand that this news may be difficult for many students and staff. Counselors will be available on-site at Western Greenbrier Middle School, Greenbrier West High School, and area elementary schools to support our community during this challenging time. They are here to provide emotional support and help anyone needing assistance coping with this loss.
“We encourage families to talk with their children about their feelings and remind them that it is okay to grieve and seek support. If you feel your child needs additional support, please do not hesitate to contact the school counselors.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Gray’s family and those touched by his presence.”
